Minutes of General Body Meeting held at the Venue of XV Annual Vitreo Retinal Society – India Conference, on 8th Dec. 2006 at Hotel Riviera Suites Kochi, Kerala

Meeting was called to the order by the President Dr. Taraprasad Das. Following executives and members were present:

Minutes of the last AGB meeting on 9th December. Khajuraho were confirmed and no matter was arising out of the minutes.

All new members have been notified about their membership status. It’s again reiterated that regular memberships is open to all those eligible applicants who have their primary interest in Retina Vitreous speciality. The newly elected members have been requested to send their photographs for preparation of photo ID cards.

Elections: There was no contest for any post for the Governing Council. Following Members were declared elected.

  1. All the new Governing council members were welcomed by the General body.

    The report by the Hon. Treasurer Dr. Lalit Verma was accepted.

    A total balance is Rs. 26, 37, 305. 30 (twenty six lacs thirty seven thousands three hundred and five rupees and thirty paisa) as on 31. 03. 2006, is Rs. 19, 73, 127. 00 ( Nineteen lacs seventy three thousands one hundred and twenty seven rupees only) in FDR and Rs. 6, 20, 162.30 (Six lacs twenty thousands one hundred and sixty two rupees and thirty paisa) in savings account with SBI, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi. Rs 44, 016.00 (forty four thousands and sixteen rupees) been the expenses during the year. (Rs. 36,501.00 towards advances to secretary and 7,515.00 towards TDS).

  2. he report by the convener scientific committee Dr. Mangat R Dogra. was accepted.

    Dr. Taraprasad Das Suggested to have less packed programme, so that science and social aspects of the meeting can be taken care

    With Dr. Taraprasad Das in chair, it has decided that If a member ratified as life member in the same year, will be eligible for receiving the Dr. JM Pahwa award.

    Dr. S. Mittal suggested for Fellow ship grants for the members who got best paper and poster awards.

    Last meeting at Khajuraho, had even income and expenditure, so no balance has been added to the VRSI account.

  3. VRSI membership certificates and the new membership directory have been released by Dr. Traprasad Das. Dr. Ajit Babu Majji urged all the members to collect their certificates at the registration counter or otherwise by contacting through mail at a later date.

  4. Governing Council announced that the XVI Annual conference of VRSI will be held at Musoorie on September 20-22 and Dr. Gaurav Luthra will be the Organising Secretary. General body welcomed the decision. Dr. Gaurav Luthra presented regarding the Venue and other logistics.

  5. There were three letters of invitation to hold the conference came from Dr. Taraprasad Das for Konark, Dr. Debnath Chattopadhyay for raichuk and Dr. Sangeet Mittal for Palampur. Raichuk was provisionally considered for 2008, to be confirmed at next annual general body meeting.  

The meeting ended with vote of thanks to all the attendees and the organizers.
